Flies
Fruit flies feed on decaying matter, especially fruits and vegetables. They are small pests that are commonly found in homes, restaurants and other facilities where food is processed. They are found on moist, decaying matter that has been stationary for several days. Fruit flies are found in unsanitary conditions, so they are a potential health concern, especially when present in health facilities.
Fleas
Fleas can live for about 100 days during which time the females produce 400-500 offspring. Fleas transport themselves on rodents and other mammals, and usually remain on their hosts at all times. These pests use their powerful legs to jump as high as 8" vertically, which is 150 times their own height. Fleas infest both household pets and wild animals such as opossums, raccoons and skunks.
Silverfish
Silverfish move fast and are good climbers. They can survive for weeks without food or water, but require a high humidity environment of 70 to 90 percent. Silverfish prefer areas of room temperature (70-85 degrees F/21-29 degrees C). They are nocturnal and prefer to hide or rest in tight cracks or crevices during the day.
Water Bugs
Water bugs tend to live in water. They can actually hold their breath for a long time, but do have to resurface. They can bite if they are handled. They rarely enter homes and prefer to eat other insects and creatures in the water rather than scavenge like cockroaches.
Cockroaches
Cockroach pest control and management are important for health and safety reasons, because cockroaches are known to cause allergic reactions and trigger asthma attacks, especially in children. They also spread nearly 33 kinds of bacteria, including E. coli and salmonella.
Boxelder Bugs
Boxelder bugs are not known to bite, but their piercing-sucking mouth parts can occasionally puncture skin, causing a slight irritation and producing a red spot similar to a mosquito bite.
Beetles
Beetles are the largest insect category comprising 5 million species that make up a quarter of all life on earth. Depending on the species and level of infestation, beetles can cause damage to plants or wood structures. Our beetle exterminators can eliminate the infestation and stop further damage to wood structures and furniture.
Crickets
During warm weather, house crickets typically live outdoors and are especially fond of garbage dumps. They are often attracted to electric lights in larger numbers, sometimes by the thousands. When cold weather approaches, they seek shelter in houses and sheds because of the moisture and warmth they provide.
Centipedes
Centipedes typically spend winter outdoors in secluded places and lay their eggs during the summer, usually in or on the soil. Centipedes are found in areas of high moisture, such as loose bark, in rotting logs, in trash or piles of leaves and grass.
